Supporting the professional development of young leaders throughout the Capital Region is a core piece of how the Sacramento Metro Chamber helps to cultivate a strong business environment and vibrant communities. We develop diverse programming that provides young professionals with opportunities to engage with the community and grow their leadership skills. That is why we are so proud to have many young professionals from member businesses represented on the 2018 Sacramento Business Journal Top 40 Under 40 list.

Every year the Sacramento Business Journal honors the top young professionals under 40-years-old who are achieving significant accomplishments in both business and the community. This year’s 40 Under 40 list featured 52 percent of young professionals who are either Metro EDGE members, Metro Chamber members or serve in a volunteer leadership role for the Metro Chamber. We’re proud to support the success of so many amazing young professionals doing great work in the community, and we will continue to serve as a resource for those looking to grow their skills and expand their influence on business in the Capital Region.

We caught up with a handful of the young professionals recognized on this year’s list to understand what they value most about their engagement with Metro Chamber programs.

“My employer, SAFE Credit Union, is a proud member and sponsor of the Metro Chamber. My major involvement with the Chamber is through the Metro Chamber Foundation, participating in Leadership Sacramento (Class of 2015), serving on Leadership Council for Metro EDGE and as a member of Inspire Giving. The Chamber is an intersection of various industries, experience and expertise levels – I’ve found the connections extremely valuable. The thoughtful programming encourages me to put my best foot forward while serving Metro EDGE members and my own team at SAFE. I look to the Chamber for regional business updates, helping me stay in the know, which helps me develop an understanding of how I can be most impactful in the work that I do.”

“I’m closing out my term as the 2018 Metro EDGE chair. In that role, I sit on the Metro Chamber Foundation Board, Executive Committee of the Metro Chamber Board and am voting member of Metro Chamber Board of Directors. With those three hats, I work to ensure the EDGE voice is heard in Chamber conversations across the organization. Thanks to the programs of the Chamber, I’ve had fantastic opportunities for professional development growth. Opportunities to network with area business, nonprofit and civic leaders while participating in Cap-to-Cap and Study Mission definitely top the list for me. It’s also been invaluable having a seat at the table with the Executive Committee. I’ve seen firsthand what strong Board leadership looks like through those individuals, helping me step up my game and better define my leadership style.”

Post Modern Marketing has been involved with a number of the Metro Chamber’s programs since we joined a couple years ago, and we’re excited to increase our involvement as the Chamber crafts a bold vision for the future. We joined the Chamber because of their commitment to supporting the region’s small business ecosystem through their advocacy and Capital Region SBDC. I encourage those looking to grow their business here to take full advantage of all the resources the Chamber has to offer.”

Bardis Homes became a member of the Metro Chamber in 2018, and we have become increasingly more involved in their programs and events since joining. We most recently participated in this year’s Study Mission to Brooklyn, which was very educational and sparked ideas that my business may be able implement. The Chamber convenes global conversations among local entrepreneurs allowing us to share experiences as well as learn from others. The diversity of the Chamber also allows for premium networking, unique mentor opportunities, and knowledge on how to grow a business.”
