Miss Sacramento County 2016Did you know that the Sacramento Metro Chamber founded the Miss Sacramento County pageant? The pageant has since crowned 65 queens and awarded hundreds of young women with college scholarships totaling over $150,000. Last Saturday, Metro Chamber President & CEO, Peter Tateishi honored the Chamber’s long-standing history with the pageant and served as a judge for the 2016 Miss Sacramento County Pageant. The judges were thrilled to crown Ms. Lauren Berlinn who is a student at Sacramento State working on her Bachelor of Arts/Science degree in American Sign language and Deaf Studies and food and nutrition. Congratulations Lauren!

Lauren is a 23 year old student at California State University Sacramento where she is working on her Bachelor of Arts/Science degree in American Sign language and Deaf Studies and food and nutrition.  Her platform is “Crawl to Walk, Sign to Talk: Every Child’s First Steps in Communication”.  She plans to teach children and he community at large the importance of preverbal learning (American Sign Language) to promote communication skills and aide those with hearing impairments to excel in future academics.  Her platform is important to her because it helps kids learn to communicate with their families before they can talk and it is part of the First Five of California program.

Berlinn is a dancer with the Sacramento Kings and is very excited to represent Sacramento County at the 2016 Miss California competition this summer which is a part of the Miss America Program.
