The Metro Chamber announced today that small business founder and advocate Mac Clemmens will serve as the chair for the 2019 Capitol-to-Capitol program.
Clemmens is a Sacramento native who started his company, Digital Deployment, in 2004. Digital Deployment has since grown into a thriving midtown Sacramento business that was named “Small Business of the Year” by the Metro Chamber and Best Place to Work and Healthiest Employer by the Sacramento Business Journal. In 2015, Clemmens leveraged the Sacramento Metro Chamber’s Small Business Development Center to obtain a $1M SBA expansion loan, through Five Star Bank, to expand his business.

Clemmens’ journey into policy and advocacy began after his struggles with the regulatory hurdles he faced while operating his small business. He was invited to the White House three times to meet with the head of the Small Business Administration, among others. In 2017, Mac served as vice chair for public policy on the Metro Chamber Executive Committee and is currently a board member of Stanford Youth Solutions. He also sits on Comstock’s editorial board.
Clemmens is focused on a theme of collaboration during the 2019 Capitol-to-Capitol program.
“The Capital Region’s greatest accomplishments can be credited to collaboration, and nowhere has that been more evident than in the Cap-to-Cap program,” said Clemmens. “As a region that is blue in the center and purple/red in the suburbs, we have a strong legacy of overcoming our political differences to unite on key issues such as infrastructure, regulatory reform and workforce development. This year, we aim to continue to leverage that collaboration to achieve great strides for business and for our region.”
Clemmens replaces Dr. Stacy McAfee, who had been previously appointed as the 2019 Capitol-to-Capitol Chair. Dr. McAfee, the former associate vice president for External Relations, Strategic Partnerships and Presidential Initiatives at the University of the Pacific, was recently named president and chief executive officer of University College of the Cayman Islands. She joined the University of the Pacific in 2015 as the associate vice president of External Relations and has been instrumental in strengthening Pacific’s corporate, foundation, educational and government relations across the Northern California region. The Metro Chamber is grateful to Dr. McAfee for her leadership on behalf of the Capital Region business community and dedicated efforts to the Metro Chamber these past years. We know she will have nothing but continued success as she embarks on this career opportunity.
