FoodJets OwnerDarren McAdams

Darren is a Sacramento native and played baseball at Sac City College and Sacramento State University. He dropped out of college in 1993 to start his first company Food To You out of a garage in Citrus Heights, CA. They started by offering delivering from about 12 restaurants. Food To You now operates in 13 markets in 6 states with 1,500 restaurant partners. Food To You and FoodJets remain headquartered in Sacramento, CA.

FoodJets

FoodJets is a new approach to food delivery that caters to on-demand food delivery orders—when you’re hungry, just order from the app or website and you’ll be eating restaurant meals in less than 10 minutes. No delivery fee, no minimum order, no hassle.

Traditional food delivery companies are slower and more expensive—meals can take up to an hour for delivery and delivery can cost upwards of $20. Many customers have been priced out of everyday delivery, and many delivery companies are focusing on larger corporate orders. Darren saw this as a huge opportunity in the food delivery space and created FoodJets.

FoodJet CapitolFoodJets operates off a proprietary, patent-pending technology system that allows smart, multichannel communication between incoming orders, drivers and end users. The system routes the closest driver with the correct inventory to the customer. FoodJets delivers curbside, which allows free delivery since drivers can average more deliveries per hour than a normal food delivery service. FoodJets uses a fleet of customized hybrid vehicles (jets) retrofitted to hold the electric bags necessary to keep the hot food hot and the cold food cold. Oh, and the cars have wings.

Since the business model requires we order a lot of prepared meals to meet demand, FoodJets donates excess meals to the Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services.
