Celebrating 40 years in business! It still seems shocking to current Fleet Feet Sports Sacramento owners, Jan and Pat Sweeney, who have been at the helm of this locally owned and operated business for the last 20 years. Since moving from Washington D.C. to take over the flagship Fleet Feet Sports store on J Street in midtown, Jan and Pat have stayed focused on their passion – improving lives and communities through fitness.
While Fleet Feet Sports is first and foremost a running store, it is much more than that. It is a starting point for health and wellness and a trusted community partner to local businesses, local non-profits and the residents of Sacramento. It is a place where everyone is welcome – walkers, runners, fast, slow, big, small, beginner or veteran. When you walk in the doors of Fleet Feet J Street, the goal is to help you find solutions to your health and wellness challenges, whatever they are – and having a lot of fun in the process.
Jan and Pat’s commitment to healthy living, community and fun doesn’t stop with finding the right shoes for your feet. Fleet Feet Sacramento trains over 2,700 Sacramentans annually for races of varying distances and is one of the premier race management companies in the area, producing 10 races annually, each with a local non-profit as the beneficiary. In addition, Project FIT is a free after school youth fitness initiative founded by the Sweeney’s. There are currently more than 15 schools using the Project Fit program with more than 1,500 children participating.
The Sweeney’s walk the walk! When they aren’t “in the building,” you will find them walking or running on the American River Trail or in Land Park with their two loveable dogs in tow.
