In 1966, a group of parents met in the basement of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Auburn, California to discuss creating work opportunities for their adult children with disabilities. These parents wanted their children to experience the dignity, independence, and purpose that comes with employment. They created an organization that would become PRIDE Industries.
From this humble beginning nearly 59 years ago, PRIDE Industries has become the nation’s leading employer of people with disabilities. Headquartered in Roseville and operating in 16 states plus Washington D.C., PRIDE Industries is a pioneer in social enterprise, offering business services to fuel its mission of creating employment for people with disabilities.
The organization’s services include integrated facilities management services; manufacturing, logistics, and supply chain services; and supported employment services that match thousands and talented workers with businesses in the community.
Every day, PRIDE Industries maintains 13,000 buildings spanning 336 million acres of real estate and cleans 26 million square feet government and private sector customers buildings across the United States. Notable Sacramento-area customers include HP Inc., VSP Vision, Reviver, SMUD, Placer County, the Judicial Council of California, Beale Air Force Base, Travis Air Force Base, and General Services Administration, to name a few.
PRIDE Industries electronics manufacturing services support the aerospace and defense, healthcare, medical device and life sciences industries, and was named Best Technology and Packaging Company in the World by the Global SMT & Packaging Magazine, and was given the Global Service Supplier of the Year and Human Rights Diversity awards by HP Inc.
Most importantly, nearly 50% of PRIDE Industries’ 4,000 employees have a disclosed disability, in addition to supporting thousands of people with disabilities with life-changing employment services each year. The company’s I AM ABLE Employment Helpline is the only one of its kind in the country, and its I AM ABLE Disability Job Fair won a 2024 Stevie American Business Award.
