Department of Sound
Organization Overview
Department of Sound believes everyone should have access to music education. Their mission is to provide opportunities to youth through music and simultaneously cultivate sacramento into a media and entertainment hub
Since launching their pilot workshops in 2019, Department of Sound has provided music workshop programming to middle and high school students in Sacramento and given them the opportunity to experience the multifaceted benefits of music.
How is COVID-19 impacting Department of Sound?
In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, Department of Sound has decided to launch their Spring workshops as a remote program. Their program already has online capabilities and allows them to continue providing this educational opportunity to the youth of Sacramento, especially in this much-needed time.
The transition to a digital classroom will prevent some students from participating, as they do not have the adequate hardware, internet, and/or technology capabilities to access the program.

Helping Others
By transitioning to a remote platform, this allows Department of Sound to reach a widespread audience of youth, providing them a creative, fun, and stimulating activity to work on during this unprecedented time. Through this transition, Department of Sound is getting well-versed in online learning and can help other organizations with this transition.
