Children’s Receiving Home of Sacramento
Organization Overview
The Children’s Receiving Home of Sacramento’s mission is to positively impact the lives of children, youth, and families affected by abuse, neglect, and trauma by providing a safe haven of comfort, hope, and healing. The Children’s Receiving Home provides refuge to over 1,200 children in the shelter and day treatment/out-patient mental health programs each year.
The Children’s Receiving Home of Sacramento has received the 2020 Inspire Giving grant and will be working this year to create multi-sensory de-escalation rooms. These will keep youth engaged in the program and away from temptations of negative influences and self-destructive behaviors. If you want to get involved in this project for the year, please contact cfloyd@metrochamber.org.
Impact of COVID19
The biggest challenge right now is that the kids cannot leave for activities or even convene in groups. As always, it is a challenge to occupy the kids, keep them calm, and ensure they are learning.
How You Can Help
Donations:
- Hospital isolation gowns, shoe covers, face shields, they need it to set up a quarantine if any of the kids test positive for COVID19.
- Tablets/laptops so kids can do their remote schooling (secondhand is fine!)
Financial support: Donate online or text GIVETOCRH to 41444
Volunteer to lead a session for the students virtually: teach yoga, lead an art class, do a magic show, etc. via teleconference. If interested, please contact Alex Gonzalez at agonzalez@crhkids.org.
