Ever since opening its first hospital here in 1965, Kaiser Permanente has been a devoted member of the greater Sacramento community. Today, it is the area’s largest health care provider, with more than 780,000 members and nearly 1,600 physicians who are dedicated to keeping them all healthy.
With three medical centers and nine medical offices, members can access care that’s convenient to their home and work. Most of these facilities feature lab, X-ray, and pharmacy services to help members manage all their health needs in just one stop.
Over the years, Kaiser Permanente has continued to add new facilities and services to better meet the needs of its members and the community. Current plans to expand its presence and help revitalize the downtown area include the opening of a new medical office building in 2018 at 501 J Street, followed later by a new hospital at the historic Sacramento Railyards.
As part of its partnership and role as team physicians to the Sacramento Kings, Kaiser Permanente also recently unveiled plans to open a state-of-the-art sports medicine facility in the new Golden 1 Center. The facility—scheduled to open this September in time for the 2016-17 NBA season—will provide comprehensive sports medicine care to Kaiser Permanente members, the community, and Kings players.
A large part of Kaiser Permanente’s mission is to improve the health of the communities it serves. The nonprofit health care system provides millions of dollars in grants and sponsorships in the Sacramento region each year and partners with community organizations, schools, and government agencies to improve health care access, reduce community violence, promote healthy eating and active living, and provide assistance to the most vulnerable in our communities.
One of the region’s largest employers, Kaiser Permanente is also committed to improving the health to its more than 12,000 local employees. For the sixth year in a row, Kaiser Permanente was recently honored by the Sacramento Business Journal as the 2016 Healthiest Employer for mega-sized companies for its wealth of employee wellness offerings.
