When: Thursday, March 23, 2023/8:00-10:30 am
Where: KVIE Community Room
While other areas, both nationally and within our state, are seeing the progress the homeless epidemic continues to grow in the Sacramento Region. Sacramento County’s 2022 homeless count found nearly 9,300 individuals experiencing homelessness on any given night, a 67% increase from the 2019 count.
Many real estate land use professionals in both the private and public sectors think they can and should be part of solving this crisis. In that spirit, ULI presents a conversation around best practices and solutions from other parts of the state as well as examples of successful local programs that are succeeding in providing housing to the homeless. The panel will also look at efforts to improve the delivery of transitional housing across the Sacramento region. ULI intends for this Transitional Housing event to inspire local leaders to leverage best practices, innovation, expertise, and resources in the private sector to work as quickly and as efficiently as possible to create needed transitional housing with supportive services.
Following remarks by the keynote speaker, a panel comprised of local experts will discuss innovative private-sector solutions and non-traditional practices that are making progress with transitional housing strategies having a measurable impact on this crisis in their communities. The Metro Chamber is pleased to partner with the Urban Land Institute (ULI) to present a frank discussion about the future of our Region.
