File by E-SDR
E-SDR is designed for business owners that typically have a single or small number of business locations in California. This allows businesses to file the annual Business Property Statement (571-L) electronically verses manually. E-SDR and SDR were developed by a consortium of California Assessors to increase efficiency.

The first year it is filed, the filer will expend the same amount of time to input cost data, however, they will save mailing costs. In subsequent years, the filer will only need to input the changes, saving time and mailing costs. The Assessor’s office will become more efficient since it will eliminate the need for hard copies to be mailed and facilitate electronic data entry and processing.

Who Uses E-SDR?
Taxpayers that have fewer than ten locations within California whereby filing single property statements for each location is efficient.

How Do I File Using E-SDR?
To learn more about electronic filing, please go to www.calbpsfile.org Follow the notes and guidance provided on the left side of the SDR screen specifically for E-SDR. If you were not sent a Property Statement for a new location in Sacramento County, please contact the Sacramento County Assessor’s Office, Business Property Division at 916-875-0730.

File by SDR
SDR is designed largely for businesses that file property statements for multiple locations in multiple counties. SDR was developed by a consortium of California Assessors to increase efficiency.

Who Uses SDR?
Typically larger taxpayers who maintain centralized computer systems for managing reportable assets and filing business property statements in multiple jurisdictions throughout the state/nation would use SDR.

How Do I File Business Property Statement(s) using SDR?
Filers wishing to use SDR will need to submit a predefined XML submission containing a record layout that MUST meet a specific set of field sequences. The filer will be required to sign up prior to submission.
